Hello,

I grew up in Providence and my parents still live there, but I live in Amsterdam. We will be visiting my parents over Halloween. A friend here asked me yesterday if they still trick or treat in the neighborhoods or if everyone just goes to the mall. I've never heard of this mall thing. Please tell me that trick or treating is still done the old fashioned way. My parents live on the East Side.

Thanks!

Oh I LOVE the East Side. I used to live there. It's my favorite place to live in RI.

Yes, people still do regular trick or treating. :)

We always walk around Hope Street. Mostly in and around the left side if you're heading North between Hope and Morris and around Doyle. People have great decorations etc... I think we usually start around 7, which is a little late for us but we want to give people a chance to eat dinner:)
Have fun!

Neighborhoods are still the common practice. Some towns have indoor events as well, for kids who live in areas where they can't just walk around.

Hi there! I lived in A-Dam for a while, and now live just south of Providence, but am originally from the UK.

I know the Brown Street Park, on Brown Street behind Hope High School is having a Halloween extravaganza that is sponsored by Whole Foods. They are having a "parade route" and there is a playground there with some great families. It was a huge sucess last year, and I think it starts around 4ish.

Good Luck and enjoy your time in Providence.

That sounds great. We will definitely check it out. Now I just have to figure out what to dress them up as....
