New month.
New thread.
Can't wait to see everyone on Wed at Humboldt Park at 10am.

I just wanted to add- I've been to a couple other playgroups since Noah's birth but none have been as uplifting and refreshing as this one. Typically at playgroups I think moms kindof follow their child around and make minimal and awkward surface level conversation with the other moms. I so appreciate the rich interactions I have with all the wonderful moms at our playgroup:joy:

I totally agree!!! This group is just so wonderful to be a part of. Everyone is so nice and welcoming! And I get such great parenting and non-parenting ideas too! I look forward to it all week long :)

I'm going to try and put the order email in this evening so if any of you want some grass fed raw milk from Foxboro let me know.
It comes in 1/2 gallons and costs $5 each.
I'll get it wednesday morning before the play group.

Dylan is not feeling well, so we won't be joining you ladies...have a good time! We've had a really busy few weeks, and his birthday was Friday, we had family in town, etc., so I think we're both a little run down. Time to slow down again, and get well. Have a nice time...it seems like a beautiful almost-fall day out there!

I wanted to make it today...but I was not feeling too good. I was tired from a lot of running around yesterday and today I have some weird cough that my babes passed to me..making my throat hurt a bit too. Ugh.

Hopefully we can try for next week!

Ok, I just got home and tried the raw milk - I am in heaven! Thanks so much for picking it up, Sonja.

I googled Lawton Farm and they are having a kind of raw milk open house / family fun event this Saturday from noon - 4 pm. Thought I'd pass the info along in case anyone is interested in sampling some delicious raw milk and cheese. :D

If you guys will be meeting in October as well, we'd love to join you"when we visit. My parents just happen to live on Humboldt and I grew up playing in that park, which used to be called the Tot Lot. Is it still referred to that way?

If we aren't still meeting in October, I am going to be one very sad Mommy!!! Can't wait to meet you :)

ACV, lemon, honey drink is now in the fridge - went straight to the 1/4 cup of ACV to start - being daring!!!

Sheramy, I hope you'll be able to join us again too! The spa sounds like a great idea! Any discount spas around??? :p

We'll definitely still be meeting in Oct and we'd love to see you, Sarah. Hopefully it will still be warm enough for us to be at the park.
The spa sounds like a great idea! Any discount spas around??? :p

We talked about doing a night at a spa when we were at the zoo last week but when I looked into it further... I just don't think I want to spend the money it would take to get a massage right now... as much as I do want a massage:)
If someone else wants to organize it- go for it. I just think I'll opt out for now.

I've got a cold that doesn't seem to be letting up. I'm going to try to be there tomorrow, but may need to stay home and work at getting better. I'm bummed about it, though. I'll miss seeing all of you and your babes.

I guess this means another week of Iris waking up every day and running through her list that begins, "Amy? Del? Noooo-ahhhhh!"

Do any of you EC? I've never met anyone in RI who has even heard of it...It would be nice to get together with someone who practices EC'ing. What is this playgroup about anyway I just saw this thread?

Amberoxy
09-17-2008, 05:00 PM
Hi! I am familiar with EC'ing and did plan to do it. My son however gave absolutley no indication at all when he was peeing or pooping when he was an infant. I wasn't prepared to have him go bare bum so I ended up giving up on it. I wish now that I hadn't. It is still in the back of my mind to try again using the methods for older babies in the book I have. Not sure though.

The playgroup is really more of a Mom's (and the occasional Dad) group that meets at a playground so the kids will play and allow us to hang out and talk :) It is so wonderful! All the moms are really great. We'd love to have you join us! We meet at Humbolt park Wednesdays at 10am. The park is on the East Side of Providence. Very easy to get to and a very kid friendly park.

i am pretty sure one of the moms who comes to playgroup ECs, although i am not sure whether she is an mdc mom. (i'm thinking of mehera....i saw her ec sadie a couple weeks ago....is she on mdc or no?)

you should come to playgroup anyway, lovebeingamama, we would love to meet you!

Amberoxy

Mehera is on MDC - I got an email from her that was sent via MDC... I don't know the ettiquette of giving someone's screen name to match with a real name...is that okay? Maybe she will see this thread and reply... I'm still new at this so don't want to do anything wrong...

I'm still filled with warm fuzzies after todays wonderful time at the park. So, I just had to share them with all of you and give out a big :joy::Kiss:grouphug

Great as always to see the ever-expanding group at the playground. so glad to have found some awesome mamas and kiddos.

Wondering if anyone (besides Sonja, whom I have seen there a couple times now) goes to the Saturday Hope High School Farmers' Market in Providence? Anyone interested in making a very loose plan to meet up this weekend? We try to get there between 9:30-10.

In theory we're ec'ing the baby. She pees once every other day or so on the potty. It's getting harder now that it's getting colder- and to be honest we've not been as dedicated as we want(ed) to be. I'm sure it would be motivating to hang out with another ecing family.

Poor Mehera, we keep talking about her!! I know she goes to the Farmers Market on Hope street. I just messaged her.

For the little one still cookin' away I'd like to EC with her. We'll see how it works out with carpet in a hosue we rent:eyesroll I'm just really hoping we move SOMEWHERE soon, that way I can have my hard wood floors!!

Anyone interested in Chalk4Peace? It's a global pro-peace demonstration. Leslie set it up at Kennedy Plaza tomorrow @ 10:30 AM. We'll be there with buckets of chalk to write on the sidewalks for peace!!:rainbow I'm excited to see how many passerbys join in:D

We rent and it has all brand new carpets...and I will not lie they have been pooped on! But it's not a big deal to clean up. In my toddlers playroom I have a cheap rug that I put down so when it gets peed & pooped on it's not a big deal.

Thanks for letting me know about the playgroup. Is the AP reffering to Attachment Parenting?

Yup!

And we are part-time ECers, when we are home and during the day. She is usually dry in the morning and after naps, so those are easy to catch and usually in a snappied PF when we are home. When we're out and about I'm not consistent about it.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a contact list of playgroup regulars. I thought it might come in handy for if we want to plan other types of get togethers or if we need to come up with a rain day location for our playgroup, etc etc. I would be happy to put such a list together if you all think this is a good idea.

My thought was people could pm or email me and then I could put together the list and email it out to everyone on the list. To make sure we are secure, if I do not recognize a name, I will check with a couple other regulars I know. If those other regulars do not recognize the name, the name will not be added and will not receive the email. For new people who show up, we can get the info in person to add. I thought the info we could use would be:

Momma's name
Children(s)'s name(s)
Phone
Email

Maybe Lovesvermont could provide photos to go with the names for those of us memory challenged?

So, if you think this is a good idea, feel free to send me the info. If you think it is a bad idea, feel free to ignore me :)

Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!!!

We EC part-time. Dude wears diapers, but every 2 hours or so, or if he's farting a lot, I take him to the toilet. We 'cue' him with 'psss' and grunt sounds and he pees and grunts back. He's 3 months old and we've cued him since birth and taken him to the potty since about 3 weeks old. Since then he's pooped in a diaper only about 10 times, which is awesome. It is SO much easier to clean than a diaper poop. He loves 'talking' to the toilet seat. We're really laid back about it and it works great. If he's fussy I don't take him to the toilet, or if he gets fussy on the toilet we don't do it, so that all toilet time is happy time. I'm SURE it will get more complicated once he's mobile, but for now, I LOVE flushing poops - it makes my day, really.

See you all tmr.

okay, so i was totally planning on coming today, but i just can't get myself together this morning. it's tough when you start your day praying for naptime so you can nap...that's where i'm at. i've been going back & forth...i know the interactions would cheer me up (a little grouchy today), and the activity would tire dylan out, but today the grouchy, tired side of me is winning. if i lived closer, i may be able to motivate, but...
anyway, mamas, have a lovely day. i should hopefully see you next week!
