Whidbey Island things to do/places to eat

Hi, we are heading to Whidbey for a few days at the end of Sept. We're staying at the Fort Casey bed breakfast. We've been there lots of times and know about the more common tourist places like Deception Pass, Fort Casey, Coupeville, and Langley.
We love Double Bluff beach and love to eat at the Freeland Cafe.

Are there other "off the beaten path" or local favorites that we should know about? We'd love to find new beaches and places to eat.

FYI-all have to be kid friendly ;)
