Big E and West Springfield Weekend

Hi all!

I'm in CT and we are doing an overnight for the Big E on Sept. 26th-27th. We plan on hitting the Big E Friday night and again for a bit on Sat. morning thru afternoon.

I'm looking for alternative plans for Saturday afternoon if it all gets to be a bit much for 4 yo DD.

We thought about 6 flags, but non riding MIL will be with us and it just seems such a waste to have to pay for 3 adult tickets when at least one of us will not be riding anything!

Also, any suggestions for a family friendly dinner on Friday night in the area? (on the off chance that we have any room left after eating our way through the Big E that evening)

No ideas but after going to college in Springfield I am sooo jealous you'll be at the Big E.

We used to go every year. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We haven't been since DD was just over a year and it was a difficult trip...she wanted to walk everywhere, but we kept almost loosing her! I think it will be much better this time...

I don't know if this is helpful, but I'm fairly certain that you can pay a lower admission for someone who won't be riding. I'm almost positive...

I personally would stay far away from Six Flags with a small child and a MIL. It's nuts there, although much better in the fall when it's not as busy.

The Holyoke Children's Museum is a good place for kids. It's fairly small and not overwhelming - which might be nice after a crazy day at the fair.

What sort of stuff are you looking to do? Are you staying in West Springfield?

MIL LOVES to take DD to amusement parks! We have been to Playland in Rye NY 1/2 a dozen times so far this summer...it's MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller than 6 flags though:o. I think we may have crossed that off the list.

We have a great children's museum here and DD absolutely loves it. We're members so go just about every other week. A change of scenery might be nice fer her.

Holyoke and West Springfield are next to each other.

A PP mentioned the Children's Museum. That's an awesome place. It's in a state park and they also have a beautiful old carousel. It's $1 per ride and on Tuesdays it's 2 for the price of 1!
