St. Louis CSA members

Hi! We are members of Three Rivers Community Farm CSA and just got some disappointing news from them that they won't be continuing to deliver to St. Louis clients in 2009. As we make a decision about whether to renew our membership for next year, we are looking for info. on other CSAs.

I'd love to hear about your CSA experiences. We've been sooo happy with Three Rivers.

I did Fairshares for one week by buying a member's share while they were on vacation. It was a great way to try it out without committing to it long-term. You can post on their forum asking if anyone has a week to share.

I found that it was super convenient with multiple pick-up locations.

I'm in ThreeRivers, too. I'm so bummed.

New Roots is for the City of St. Louis only, I think. My work team is doing a volunteer outing there at the end of this month.

I've heard good things about fair shares. I may try to hit the maplewood farmers market for my Three Rivers stuff on Wednesdays next year.

I am a member of FairShares. I am not sure if they will expand next year, but it would be worth getting on the wait list now...

The share was a little sparse before the produce came in this year... i hope this doesn't happen again at the end of the year. Supposedly they paid an Amish family to preserve tomatoes/etc. that they will give out in the winter months. I am a little apprehensive eating canned food that someone else bottled, but hopefully I won't get Botulism!!! :Puke

I'm in St. Louis County (U. City) and this is my second year there. I'm not sure if they restrict by address at all or not.

I'm in New Roots too, and love it. It is restricted to city residents - maybe you get a pass C because you are sharing with someone in the city or because where you live is practically in the city.

They have a long waiting list, I think. We had to do some wheeling and dealing to get in this year.

I've done Three Rivers, Biver and New Roots. My experience was not that great with Biver. Fair shares sounds awesome.
