Hi
We're going to move to Falmouth in December, and will need a new ped. I am willing to drive a little ways to go to a ped that is no-vax friendly. Can anyone recommend someone? Googling hasn't done too much for me!
Any other info about the area would be super too :o

I know 2 peds practices who aren't taking on any more patients in the Falmouth/Mashpee area. Finding a non-vax friendly doc on Cape is difficult - at least from what I understand. The ped we go to has been understanding (I stopped vaxing 2nd dd when they aggravated her eczema) but still do try to talk me into them. I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Rebecca Lawrence - she's a naturopath and not a ped. But a friend takes her children there and they all love her. We'd go but our insurance doesn't cover her and we can't afford out of pocket right now.
I think you might have better luck in the Plymouth area. I think some mamas here know of some in that area. Up to you if you want to travel that far.
Falmouth is a nice town. Lots of parks, Shining Sea walking/biking trail, Main St is nice to walk. There are festivals and lots of things going on all the time it seems.
Good luck with your move!

Unfortunately those of us in Plymouth that I know seem to have found only doctors 'nearby' in the opposite direction of the cape. Still looking for ones closer.
I don't have anyone that I feel I can recommend with out some reservation/ explanation.

I know for fact that my neighbor uses Dr. Edith Kaselis in E. Orleans and has not given either of her children any vaccinations (DD 2.5yrs and DD 11mos). That said, we also see Dr. Kaselis, because she is the only pedi on the Cape that takes our insurance, and we find her bed side manner leaves a lot to be desired. But, I do know may people who use her and they say she is wonderful when your kid is sick. She really knows her stuff. So far we've only been for well visits and one sick visit, and I'll admit it was the one sick visit where I actually connected with her (DS and I were both crying as we came through the door, she saw us as we entered and she swept us back right away, and I really appreciated it).

No info on the PDs but I live in Bourne and grew up in N Falmouth :-)
They have an awesome new playground at one of the schools there. I want to say Mullen Hall?? Near White Hen Pantry and Katherine lee bates rd anyway...
There's even an area designed just for the 2-5 kids

Thanks for the input. I think I will check out Dr. Kaselis. We had so much trouble finding a ped who was ok with no-vax in Buffalo that I just hate having to try to find another one! I am also going to check out Dr. Lawrence. DH just signed his contract yesterday, so as soon as I find out which insurance company we have, I will see who accepts it.
Now I just have to get someone to buy our house (ug) and find somewhere to rent there...

I just thought i would mention that Orleans is over an hours drive from falmouth. Dr. Kaselis is the only one that i know of too. Our family Dr. is not taking new patients:( She is fantastic though. We are the first non-vaxers in her practice and she is "seeing how long they will let her keep us":irked:. Good Luck!

Dr. Patty Fader is in Cotuit 15 mins from mashpee. My friend takes her boys there and they have not vaccinated them. She is more natural-therapy oriented. She is a Family practitioner, not just a pediatrician. The hang up is that she doesn't take insurance, but she will give you the info for your insurance company to reimburse you. Our insurance doesn't work that way:( but maybe yours will. I think she has a website if you google her.
Welcome to the cape!

Veryerin -
I used to be a patient of Dr. Faters, and all I can say is she is an ANGEL on EARTH! I've never met anyone like her. Shes a hero. Unfortunatley - she doesn't take any form of insurance any more. Its a cash only office.

Thank you so much for the recs! I am getting really excited about moving! That 300 committee website is really helpful.
If anyone has any recommendations about which parts of the greater Falmouth area are nice to live in I would love to hear them. Thanks again!

These days you are better off finding a family practitioner who will accept you as the AAP is really pushing the pediatricians to turn away non vaxing families and since most of their business is about "well baby check-ups" which are mainly to vaccinate on their schedule. I would just stay away.
That being said, I did take my youngest in to Cape Cod Pediatrics a couple of times as a newborn and refused vaccines. That was over 3 years ago, so not sure where they stand at the moment. Fortunately, I haven't needed any doctors for him as he has been very healthy. MMM? Wonder why? I have taken him to a Homeopath that I can highly recommend, Lauren Fox, and though she cannot accept insurance, the cost is worth the results and she can also help if your child gets sick and needs a remedy to speed along recovery in an acute situation.
The only time we need allopathic doctors are when bones are broken or stitches required and then I just go to the emergency room.

We currently go to Cape Cod Pediatrics. One doc (I can't remember her name, we've seen her 2x and I don't care for her) was pushing for me to update dd#2's vaxes. Even after I repeatedly told her they inflamed her eczema and we are waiting. I finally told her if she wants to come home with us, nurse dd#2 nonstop and be up with her for 3 days like the last time she got a vax then she could vax her. She shut up.
The male doc I really like. He actually gave me some names of books to read about vaxes. I'm not sure about the other female doc as we haven't seen her in a while. I usually try to get the male doc. He will discuss things with me but not push. I don't know if that will change. If it does I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
We've been to Lauren Fox. She's very nice. My only issue is she's not on Cape. She's only here one weekend a month (which could have changed, we haven't seen her since April).
I'm seriously thinking about changing to a holistic practitioner. Since we only go to the peds for well visits (so far, knock on wood) anyway. I've also heard good things about Dr. Lawrence.
