Having a small panic attack, moving to South Denver area about a month before we are due, could really use some help/advice!

We are moving to the Denver area mid Oct. and we are due the 27th of Nov. We were hoping to find a birthing center/ midwife that accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. The kicker is that we have our deductible paid already and would like to keep extra costs to a minimum. We would prefer a non-hospital atmosphere. We would love any suggestions, I'm having a hard time finding the information out online. We are willing to travel a bit too. Any information at all would be helpful!!!! Thanks!

I'm not sure if they accept BCBS, but call and see what they can do for you.

Thanks, I have given their website a look and they don't seem to take BCBS :( But I am going to give them a call and see what the possibilities are. Otherwise I'm willing to settle for a water birth, just about any where I can get it, if anyone has any suggestions for that, it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you planning a Homebirth? Some hospitals allow water labor here.

Originally we wanted a home birth, but since we are moving so soon, I'm not sure how "homey" the place in CO we get will be. We are willing to have one, but I haven't even had a chance to start the look for a homebirth midwife with availability at that time. I just feel completely overwhelmed :(
I've been looking here for 5 months for a good homebirth midwife and I just found one a couple of weeks ago that had availability and now my slate has been wiped clean:(

I'm sorry Kensington, it is SO emotionally and physically HARD to move when pregnant. Have you tried any simple Google searches? I think you'll be happy with what you find:joy:.

As far as waterbirth in a hospital, I think the midwives at the Univerity/Fitzimmons campus will do them. That said if you're open to homebirth I would absolutely recommend that instead. Like the PP said we have tons of homebirth midwives in the Denver area.

University Hospital on the Fitzsimmons campus is the only one I've heard that does waterbirths. They have two midwife practices: a large one and a smaller one so be aware of that if you call them and are interested in one or the other.

You can labor in the water at Lutheran in Wheat Ridge and they do take BCBS, and they have midwives (mostly, or perhaps entirely through Westside Women's Care). They don't do water births unless you can manage to sneak it past them.

You should check University Hospital... they allow water births. They also have a midwife, Nancy Acheff (sp?), that use to work at Mountain Midwifery. She is amazing! She was with me when I gave birth to my daughter and I highly recommend her.
