I'm not sure this ok to post here but I figured I'd try. My ds was born 7 weeks early due to HELLP syndrome, via cesarean. He's my 4th so I'm not new at this, but I am having supply issues. He only nurses part of the time and I pump the rest of the time. I spent several weeks pumping like crazy, takng herbs, eating oatmeal-and my supply refuses to increase. I have some milk frozen from when he was on IV feedings so we've been ok so far, but I use one of those bags of milk each day and I will run out soon. I *know* that in theory he should be able to empty me better than the pump and if he were a full term, normal baby, I wouldnt be worried about it, but he still has a weak latch and tires quickly, so I think the supplementing is just.
Although he doesnt have an allergy or anything, formula definately makes his little tummy mad. Any time I give him formula, he cries the rest of the day-and this is normally a very calm, sweet baby. I feel so bad for him, I cant imagine having to do that every day. (We've been giving him a bottle of formula once every few days instead of the frozen milk to keep him used to the taste, since once I'm out of frozen milk he'll probably be getting some)
I am hoping someone in my area has extra milk they may be able to donate. I live in Bothell, but can drive pretty far to pick up (an hour or two). I am also on MilkShare and have someone offering to donate in a few months from now-which is totally awsome-but I havent been able to find anything now. I dont need a ton of milk-but as his appetite increases, I can see us needing more than we are using now. However, as of now, he's getting about 4-6 ounces of frozen milk a day.
Please if you happen to have any extra milk you cant use, let me know. It'll be greatly appreciated! Thanks
