We currently see Dr. Lax in Clawson and while I like him, I'm delivering out of Troy and would like to find someone closer to home.
I'm due in less then two weeks so I may end up taking the baby to him until I find someone closer, but there isn't a separate well/sick area and we didn't start seeing him till DD was around 18 months so it wasn't as much of an issue then.
Thank you! I work for Beaumont so I have to see a Beaumont doctor but not sure how many are really okay with not vaxing.

Check with Pediatric Healthcare at 18 1/2 and Mound. Try the listing under "Sharon McManus" on smartpages dot com. She owns the practice. We generally use Becky Wegner and Mark Deprez for our kids, though in general, we have had pretty good luck with them all. I delayed vax with my two, and avoided several 'cause they have egg allergies and some are carried in egg, and now we don't vax at all, 'cause my son had a reaction to one.
They are VERY good about realizing that I have a brain in my head and am able to do research of my own. They are quite open to new information, and if I come in with something they don't know, they ask questions, rather than puffing up their chests and acting all high and mighty.
That said, they are still docs...they DO like bili-lights for bili levels over 18 (though staunch supporters of breastfeeding while doing so), and need to be reminded occaisionally that breastmilk is a clear fluid, that breastmilk's iron is more bioavailable than tri-vi-sols, stuff like that. But they don't get cranky, they say okay.
They did figure out that my three week old had protein allergies through my breastmilk, and rather than suggesting that I wean and put her on a low-allergenic formula, they helped me to figure out what it was that was bothering her. That was HUGE for me!
They're the best I've found in the BEaumont system.

I thought Dr. Lax also had privileges at Beaumont? Does he only go to Royal Oak?

prior to loosing our insurance my kids went to pediatrics of troy (inside the prof bldg behind troy ) and they fully supported our wishes in fact a nurse got judgemental and she was not only reprimanded but the office manager made her apologize to us in person and the docs did too.
Their favorite line is "you the parent know what is best for YOUR kids we can only give the research and let you make the decisions"
I love them they supported all of our natural choices from day one :)

I take my kids to pediatric health care also on 18 1/2 and mound. They are great!!! They are fine with no vax. They also have a separate waiting area for well and sick kids.

This is Dr. Quiqley's practice right? We started going there from day one and saw Christine Stankovich? She was wonderful. However, once she left, each doctor after that, was pushing me about solids at 4 months The one doctor, I can't remember her name but she said I think her last name started with an M"You have to feed your child meat" Um no lady, I don't have to do anything, it's my child! and giving me tons of grief over vaxes. The next two doctors after that had terrible bedside manners and were really rough with DD when she was sick. I left the practice shortly thereafter.
Lax only works out of RO and we are delivering and live about 5 minutes from Troy.
I'll have to try the place on 18 1/2 and Mound. That is minutes from our home. Thank you!

That is them WOW! That is nuts- Marcus didn't get meat until 18 months and they told me it was smart. I wonder what docs you were seeing? they have some go through like revolving doors :( those ones I don't see. I only see 3 docs- Dr. Castro, Dr. Morales and Dr. Quigley.
My oldest is adhd and these are the only 3 that supported my med free opinion with him.... the school tried to force the meds and they were the only ones who stood behind me.....
sorry your experience was bad.... That sucks!

I too have great experiences with Quigley's practice and have received NO problems with our selective and now no vaxing choice. They are very supportive of our natural living choices as well. hmmmmmm........ I usually see Dr. Dubina or Dr. Quigley, but have seen Treblin and Castro and liked them as well. (My son was born with a congenital disorder so we had to do one month check ins for 2 years to monitor head swelling so we were there a.lot!)
