I just found out that I'm pregnant again. My previous midwife (Diane Rousseau) has retired from delivering babies, so I'm looking for a new midwifery practice. My husband and I have agreed to use midwives that deliver at a hospital again for this one. She recommended the Center for Midwifery at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. I made my first appointment with them, but I'm still holding out for a practice closer in Denver. I interviewed with the Evergreen OB/GYN midwives, but was shocked to hear they had a 60% C-section rate for the past year.

Anyone have any other suggestions for a care provider for me? I'm also on the hunt for an excellent doula who lives in Denver. We used one that lived outside Denver last time and she arrived very late for the birth due to traffic and I didn't get the labor support I needed.

Belly Bliss in Cherry Creek is hosting a "Meet the doula's" night on September 29th from 7-9 pm. This would be a great chance to meet many different doulas and find the one that is the right fit for you.

Here is the info from their website (www.bellybliss.org)

Dates: Monday 9/29/2008
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
This event is free to parents and is a great opportunity to come and find out more about what a doula does, how they can help you and get any answers to your questions. We will do a short talk to discuss the above-mentioned topics and then you will have the opportunity to mingle with the different doulas at the event, get their information and maybe find the right doula for you!

Don't go to the Swedish Hospital midwives. I have been pregnant twice with them and twice miscarried. They have been very flaky and weird.
I also dont like that the people behind the counter will discuss personal matters about patients and or loudly state someones security number while others can hear.
I can elaborate on my experiences but I would never recomend this practice to anyone. I think the midwives names are Whalen, Walters, and Conaughey or something.
