Hello,

I'm writing on behalf of my brother and SIL who are up to their eyeballs in moving and starting a new job (SIL) and starting law school (brother) and tending to their adorable 6 month dd. Yes, it is crazy and I tried to warn them but I'm only the big sis and what do I know :eyesroll

Their dd is currently in daycare at Goddard and it's really not working out. I was wondering if any of you might have leads for mamas that are doing in-home care or where they might look to find that kind of situation? Since they're new to Omaha they're not sure where to start looking. She is breastfed and they co-sleep and AP (except for the daycare bit) and are looking for a baby friendly, interactive environment vs. a park the kid in a highchair/crib/floor. I thought someone on here might be able to give me some info I could pass along.

Thanks for any help!

I'm no help. My ds was at Goddard for a couple of years. I felt better about them once he entered the 2's room, but I never had him in daycare as an infant. I've now transferred him to a Montessori.

I'll ask a friend of mine about the in-home care they use, but I don't have a personal experience with in-home cares (I like the comfort of having a "check system" so that things are regulated and one person isn't losing their mind with 12 kids. But that's just my hang-up. If I find out anything, I'll get back to you. Sorry...

Thanks for your input. They went with Goddard for the exact reasons you state - limited number of kids to caretaker, regulated situation, etc. Their dd was in Goddard in Denver before they moved and they loved it. In Omaha it seems they're a lot more hands off. They've stopped by on more than one occasion to find kids crying by themselves and the caretakers off chatting. In Denver she was held a lot and had stories read to her, etc. Thanks for checking with your friend.

Maybe they could try another location? The only one I know off the top of my head is at 176th and Q by my ped's office. There are a few Montessoris as well, they start young don't they? I don't have any help beyond that, sorry!

I'm still waiting to hear back from my friend - sorry. I think the 176th and Q is the only Goddard in Omaha. I know they are looking for a home, but I've heard good things about Primrose for the babies (if they can afford it). I don't know much about the West Omaha montessoris. I looked into the one off of Harrison. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't overjoyed with it. There's a new one off 180th, but they've been very snotty about being full and not even taking names for a waiting list for my pre-primary ds. Anyway, I'll let you know what I hear back from my friend.
