Hi ya'll. I had a uterine infection after my miscarriage in June due to retained tissue (natural loss, no D & C). It was treated with antibiotics as soon as I felt ill. The doc at the time told me I had 10% chance of not being able to get pregnant. But that was all - no reason given other than the infection. I've had two pretty normal cycles and am now trying again. Someone suggested to me recently that the uterine infection I had was the same as PID (as you would get from a STD). I am very confused and not sure what to believe. Would that uterine infection have caused me to have scarring that will prevent me from conceiving like PID would?? I am scared to think of that. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions of experience with getting pregnant again after a post-partum uterine infection? I sure could use some positive information. This was our first month trying! Thanks!

I think that the likelyhood of developing scar tissue after an infection without mechanical intervention would be low. Also, it seems that the infection was treated in a timely manner - another good indicator that things will be OK.

I developed scar tissue in my uterus after D&C (after vaginal delivery of my twins because of retained placenta), subsequent infection (found 1 month later) and 2nd D&C. We only discovered the scar tissue after a second loss (6 months later), subsequent retained placenta (noted because of elevated Hcg not another infection), and hysteroscopy (visualization of the uterus, scar tissue removal and D&C).

Hugs to you momma.
