Ok, apparently this was someone's very serious idea to solve lengthy or difficult birth. I've been a bit worried about my upcoming labor and delivery of baby number 2 in Dec and this cheered me up a bit and brought me back to the reality that we REALLY CAN do this on our own, with our own bodily power. It took the opposite extreme to remind me I guess.

come on, thats funny right? the fact that the inventors were serious makes it even more funny. So glad they included an illustration! :thumb

I especially enjoyed that one of the straps to secure the spinning mother was placed under the chin, in front of the throat. Bright.

I love that they've included a fence, to protect the staff, *sigh*.

I was giggling, because it is so absurd. Really, we've come a long way since 1965, think how normal and natural birth WILL be in the near future.

Full circle baby, and not in the weighted rotational type.

I think I read about that in "Pushed" by Jennifer Block. It wasn't a good enough description though. That is hilarious. :rotflmao

That is so funny to see this posted today, I just started reading "Pushed" last night (finally!) and the description of this thing is right at the beginning of the book.

And I thought magnesium sulfate made me puke a lot in my son's labor!

so am I the only one who thinks it looks kinda fun? maybe not so much while in labor but, as some sort of personal relaxation device to position in the middle of my rec room at home. or would that be weird?

but now that i think about it, fondestbianca, i bet if you wrote a book about how they're all spiritual and the best solution for calming, peacefullness, and can cure everything from cancer to bleeding gums and hairloss, and fill in a few chapters with "testimony" from people it's worked for, and set it up in a nice centre with potted plants and relaxation music... I bet you could charge folk a lot to go on one of those things!
:dizzy: :lol

the spinny rides at theme parks are always my favorites but, I suppose not all share in that love.... like dh who threw up on me while on a spinny ride in our first 6 months dating. :irked:

yaaah. kinda gross. I made him go on the octopus with me which spins on 3 different axis all at once and goes up and down in the air all at the same time. He swore he was fine afterwards. I kept asking and he kept saying he was fine. We went on the umbrella, sideways ferris wheel thing next and he made it about half way through. I told him to puke over the edge into the bumber boat pool (rather unsuspecting boat goers than me right? right!)... but, he didn't. He didn't aim AT me, it just ended up sort of everywhere. yah.....yah........nasty. and now we're married. he hasn't puked on me since though! i also refuse to go on any rides with him that spin the slightest bit. keep us both safe, ya know.
