I lost my baby on Sept. 8 and since then have had 2 periods but neither of them have been normal. The 1st one was 28 days after the miscarriage, but I bled for 2 weeks. Then the 2nd cycle was 40 days and was without ovulation.
Is this normal? How long does it usually take for things to be regular again?
With both of my other children it has taken FOREVER (at least a year with both of them) to have regular cycles after they were born and I am terrified that it will take months and months this time too.
I would really like to ttc again as soon as possible and am really getting obsessive thinking there is something wrong with me.

First I'd like to say how sorry I am you're going through this :hug
Unfortunately, there's no definitive answer here. Remember if you breastfed your living children that delay's your cycle. Even if you supplemented, breastfeeding will slow your cycle and it may take many months after breastfeeding for your cycle to return to normal.
With a miscarriage, you're body has just produced pregnancy hormones, lactation hormones (stimulated by the miscarriage) and now your body is adjusting to the loss.
The fact that you had a cycle a month after the miscarriage is very encouraging. It was 2-3 months after my miscarriages before I my cycles returned. This is going to be different for every women and every pregnancy.
In some cases a woman becomes VERY fertile right after a miscarrage and can conceive very easily. Most doctors and midwives will advise you to wait 3 months to ttc again, but that's also a theory.
I know you're looking for a more defined time frame and I wish I could give you that. Please continue to care for yourself and stay in-tune with your body. I wish you the best.

Thanks for replying Ms. Mom.
I actually am still nursing my 21 month old so maybe thats why I just cant seem to get a normal cycle going. It is very frustrating though.

I m/c Sept 6 and remember you being around the same time. I am also nursing DS. It took me 5 months to get pregnant with DS after my first m/c. I don't remember off-hand what my cycles were like and don't quite know where that calendar is. With this one, my first period after the m/c was on Oct. 3 and was also very heavy and long. I was almost worried that maybe some of the m/c was still in there are I was having another one because it was so heavy. The second one was after 26 days and was the normal flow. Haven't had the third and am thinking I may be pregnant again.
I'm only saying what I've been like just so that you can know someone else's experience. Everyone is different. I always track my cyclesby the moon and for many years have corresponded. I think I was running short in order to get back in time with the moon. I know that I have run long before until I was back with the moon also. You could possibly be doing something like that. Or if your DC has increased in nursing time, that very well could be affecting it. Don't feel discouraged. Sending fertility dust your way. :dust
