Dd (severe food allergies) takes probiotics and DHA (Dr. Fuhrmann's, algae-derived) regularly. I have seen a number of people on this board also promote cod liver oil for gut healing/immune health. Is it the high-quality vitamin A in the CLO that is thought to be helpful? Dd is allergic to fish, so CLO is not an option for her. I'm wondering if there are alternatives that might provide similar benefits.

Can you explain why this would help?

I think both the A and the D are related to immune function. I've used A for acute illness, so I've seen it help with immune function, but there are articles on D and overall immune function as well. The folks at the vitamin D council would have good articles. If you supplement with one, I think to avoid imbalance problems, you'd want to supp the other as well (in whatever forms you find can work for your situation, but it should be D3, not D2).

There are a lot of vitamin/minerals as well as gelatin in the broth, which helps repair/rebuild the mucus lining of your gut.
