Home under water births in Virgina?
Hello, I just found out I am pregnant with my second child. My first was born in Hawaii a little over two years ago and I loved how I was able to labor freely with no pushing for a C-section and other intrusive things doctors seem to jump to now days. I am having a difficult time finding a midwife that will do a home underwater birth in Virginia. I live on Quantico MCB can anyone point me in the right direction? I am only 6 weeks along so I have a little time

Peggy Franklin from Gainesville does waterbirths! I had an HBAC with her.

Thank you Beaytiful! I called her....unfortunately she is not able to bill Tricare so it would be a pretty big out ofpocket expense...I will talk to my husband and we will see though! Thanks again!

It would totally be worth it out of pocket! Ds#2 was completely out of pocket, we were able to save here and there over the course of the pregnancy, so the final total wasn't too painful.

Yikes, that might be the problem. If you ask, she might be able to tell you somebody who can bill Tricare. (But I think the problem is Tricare + homebirths...)

How funny! I was pregnant with my DD while stationed at Kaneohe and received some prenatal care at Tripler.
Hubby is now stationed at Quantico (we live in Stafford) and I am 7 weeks.
We are using birthcare in Alexandria, and planning a homebirth (they were my midwives for birth of DD, too)) but they do not do waterbirth. Tri-care will cover BirthCare though if you're on standard.

I think it's amazing the number of military wives on this board! I just had a homebirth 4 weeks ago...I was on Tricare standard which doesn't cover CPM's so I had to pay out of pocket :-( But it was still worth it! I was planning on a water birth in my tub... I labored a while in there but was ultimately more comfortable out of the tub.

Check out www.novahomebirth.org for local midwives.
I believe that Tricare does not pay CPM births, but talk with the midwives.

Tricare will only pay for CNM's to attend your homebirth.
