birthing pendant
My sister is pregnant and going to have her second natural birth. I want to give her a piece of jewelry that reflects birthing. Any suggestions?

Yes, I have a potter friend who makes lovely pendants. I bought two, one for my mw and her assistant. I'll get a picture up later today.

I *HIGHLY* recommend Family Tree Glass! They have family pendants, mother and child, birthing, and even an actual crowing pendant! Stunning, hand blown glass - simply beautiful!

I'm glad I could help! They are really, really beautiful! My husband and I only have one child right now, but once our family is complete (4-5 children) I'll be getting the family pendent. I didn't know about these before the birth of my 1st daughter, but I'll be getting a birthing partners pendant for my next birth. I hope it will lighten my spirits and give me strength and I attempt a WBAC after having an emergency C-section with my daughter.

My dh gave me a little antique talisman from India showing a durga just 3 days before the birth of our son and after I had a fight with my midwife. It is just about as big as a dime and looks somewhat similar to this one:
http://www.devotion.co.uk/store/imag...JPPATRI040.jpg (it wasn't nearly as expensive).
To quote wikipedia:
"Durga is considered by Hindus to be an aspect of Kali, and the mother of Ganesha, Saraswati, Lakshmi and Kartikeya.[2] [...] Durga manifests fearlessness and patience, and never loses her sense of humor, even during spiritual battles of epic proportion."
If you google durga pendant there are many comming up.
