Sick 8-Month Old
I had a round of the flu. It's actually been pretty mild. The worst lasted for a day. I'm on day 2 and can see myself being up and about tomorrow.
It appears DD has caught it. She's become a mucus and snot fountain. However, she still has plenty of energy, and no fever. She is mostly BF.
I called the pediatrician's office. The receptionist wouldn't even let me talk to a doctor. Instead she told me they want me to call back tomorrow to schedule to come in to check if it's the flu. They didn't even ask the symptoms, nor did the receptionist really give me any advice on what to look out for if DD gets worse.
Doesn't this seem a little alarmist? If DD is doing okay tomorrow should I even bother?
Sidenote- Although I adore our pediatrician, I hate going there now, because the office has been turned into a McMedical Center so unless I should be scared I really don't want to go. I'll be looking for a new pediatrician (or even a family doctor) after we get through this.

sorry, I can relate to you! My 8mth old is the same way. Sad thing is last week he had a terrible double ear infection and high fever, went on antibiotics, only to find out he is allergic to penicillin, now he has a rash from head to toe. Then last night he developed the cough, snot, sickness! I do not want to take him back to the ped, because she was furious I wasn't doing the swine flu vaccine.

This page has the emergency warning signs.
My 7 month old just had what I think was the flu. She had a runny/stuffy nose, cough, sneeze, no fever, vomited once. She had trouble getting to sleep for awhile, but other than that wasn't too bad. I didn't call the doctor.
I think the only thing they can do if they find it's the flu is giver her Tamiflu, but I don't think they can give that to anyone under 1 year old anyway (could be wrong on that one though). And I believe it's only effective if taken within 48 hours of when she first got the symptoms.
Your doctor's office probably wasn't too concerned because so many people have it, and it's been relatively mild in most. However, if you're concerned you should definitely call again tomorrow and get their advice.
