September 2009 Congratulations, and welcome to MDC's Due Date Clubs! MDC provides these "clubs" as a place where you can come together with other women due at the same time and discuss each stage of your pregnancy. Please do take some time to read the DDC Guidelines, posted at the top of each DDC. Posts that are of interest to the greater MDC community, or that are already hosted in other forums, will be moved.

To help LO

So I think Sam has a little cold.

I am a newbie here in the Mom and breastfeeding world, and want to do all I can to help him if he's a little sick(of course). So, I am assuming (??) that stuff I eat and take will help his immune system get stronger and help him fight his cold, am I right?

So normally when I am, sick I eat lots of garlic, lots of fluids, vit c. What else can I do for my baby? Will the above mentioned things even help him through my breastmilk?

Thought we could have a thread of ideas of ways to help our LO's when they get sick.

things you eat will get to him thru breastmilk. so nurse, nurse, nurse.

if he is stuffed up, you can put a little breastmilk up his nose to loosen up the snot (makes it easier to get out with the snot sucker)- also has the added benefit of IgA being applied directly to the mucus membranes.
