Health and Healing - Health and Healing is a forum for discussion that reaches beyond mainstream health care norms. It embraces the wide variety of natural and alternative healing modalities as well as necessary conventional medical care. To further this aim please use the term "health care practitioner" rather than "doctor" to embrace the reality that there are other professionals out there to consult for health care needs.

Is it safe to give a bath/shower with low grade fever on and off?

DS woke up with a runny nose, and he has a low grade fever of about 99.0. I really want to take him in the shower so he can be exposed to all the moisture and steam (to clear up his sinuses) but am not sure if the heat will spike his fever or not.

Fevers are good. Even if the bath elevated his fever a little bit, it would help to cool him down once he got out.

I'll second the PP. Hydroptherapy (heat then cold) also helps return the body to homeostasis and allow the immune system to function at it's peak.

Thank you ladies. I am a first time mom, and have to admit that fevers freak me out, but I know they are a good sign that the body is attacking an infection.
