Leaking Amniotic Fluid?

I am not sure if I am leaking fluid or not. I think I emptied my bladder, but stuff kept comming out when I would lean forward or waited a second or so. This continued for a minute or so before I got tired of sitting there. I am just not sure if it was amniotic fluid or not. When I wiped, it smelled sweet. Maybe someone could help me guess if it was or not. I don't really want to call my midwife until I have a better idea. Thanks.

Sounds like it to me. Call your midwife and let her know. Good luck!

Call your midwife!! She will not be bothered if it is just pee!! It looks as if you are not term yet, so it is better to err on the side of caution!

I agree you should call her. No midwife should be bothered by a call like that. I can't say from what you have discribed, and there are sometimes various types of discharge and such with pregnancy and labor that can seem crazy strange. Your midwife can test or look at the fluid and tell you. And if you are not at term, you will need to know.

I'm going to go against the grain and say you could just wait and see. If it is amniotic fluid, it will keep coming. Not that there is anything wrong with going ahead and calling your midwife, but if you are uncertain, you could wait. If it is a leak of fluid you will know eventually because it will keep leaking.

Thank you for your input. I haven't called her yet-I'm not even sure if she is around this week. But I am watching to see if it happens again. I am just not too sure if it is a bladder infection or other fluids.

I don't know if this is the same as what you're describing, but whenever I go pee, I have to lean forward and stand up just a bit to fully empty my bladder.

If it's amniotic fluid it come out in any circumstance, not just when going pee. Also, ime, amniotic fluid smells like semen.

Hey mama. Many times I have peed and realized I wasn't done yet, even though it felt like there was absolutely nothing in there. If I'm drinking plenty of fluids, my pee doesn't smell, and the smell of my mucous is stronger than the pee when I wipe. Just today I got up and there was still pee trickling out!! It was kind of weird but I think it's just baby on my bladder and a general woe of pregnancy.I think it might have been vaginal discharge that you smelled?

Even though I try to stay really relaxed about things like this, my midwife always tells me that she'd prefer I call her than not.
