Ugly Birth Certificate???
I birthed my first DD in another state, so I don't know if this is a NY State thing, or a homebirth thing (DD1 wasn't born at home). But...we received DD2's birth certificate and it isn't typed up or anything! It's our ugly handwriting and it's been copied and certified. That's it. What's up with that, is every homebirther's certificate this ugly? I know my friend who UC'd has the same thing.

Out of my eight BCs, I have one that is a photo copy of my writen one (from TX). Personally, I really like it, it is more special to me. (Especially this one because my daughter's middle name is "DeAnne" and it actually has the capitalization correct rather than just all caps like I usually get.
The ugliest one I have is a generic, detail-less, one from GA. I can't stand that one.

I know Dd1's is ugly. Its from Oregon. It looks like a 10th generation photocopy except its prinited on pretty paper. She was born in a hospital.
I can't even remember what my HBed baby's BC looks like. (Washington state) I know that it says she was born at home. It must not have been ugly enough to be memorable.

My homebirth baby's birth certificate looks exactly like my hospital baby's birth certificate. We're in New Mexico.
Dh was born in Washington state in 1981 and his birth certificate is ugly. I was born in Colorado in 1983 and mine looks very similar to the kids. The only difference is the colors used and the state seals.

I would much rather have yours than DDs! Hers (SC) is literally just a printout on white paper... not even a signature of the midwife who delivered her, nothing-- it looks like a DMV receipt.

I homebirthed in NY too. Our birth certificate looks ok, I guess. It's handwritten by the midwife's office manager. I'm kind of jealous of yours though, it would be so special to me if it was in MY handwriting!
