Quick! Feeling sick, limited resources on hand.
Last night I came down with a sore throat and feeling run down, like something was coming on. I feel the same today. No body aches, fever or runny nose...yet. But I can tell something is trying to take hold of me
I put off buying my cold/flu care stuff online until I had finished my research ad DH is working all weekend long, and the only stores near me are Wegmans and CVS pharmacy. Not even a Whole Foods close close-by (almost 1 hr. away).
So, I've been popping 500 mg. Vitamin C each hr. and gargling with salt water. That's all I've got here.
I could get some Oscillococcinum at CVS, but I don't yet know that this is the flu brewing. Probably by the time I knew that, it would be too late. Should I get some echinacea and zinc? What else can I do to prevent this from going full blown?
Thanks!

I'd say definitely NOT echinacea (if it is the flu it could make things worse). I'd do green tea (hot as you can), Vit C, Vit D, oscillo and/or elderberry. Feel better!

Get some vitamin D3. Take it at high doses--at least 10,000 IU per day. My husband did 50,000 IU per day and avoided most of the flu it looks like.
Green tea and probiotics are also good for fighting illness and you can get those too.

I would take 50,000 IUs of Vitamin D3 for 3-5 days. Also, the next time you feel like you're coming down with something do a wet sock treatment when you go to bed. You could try it tonight, but it would have been more useful last night.

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago and it ended up being a cold. I was bracing myself for the flu. Colds come on more slowly and if it were the flu, it would probably have given you a fever/chills, body aches by now. For me, it was a wet cough, stuffy/runny nose, sore throat. I took elderberry/zinc lozenges, vit D, fish oils and rested as much as possible.

I kicked my flu with garlic (raw, one clove crushed and then minced) every few hours and LOTS of orange juice.
