I usually log in at least once in the morning to see if there's anything worth seeing. Then, in the late afternoon/evenings while the kids are napping and then unwinding from the day, I'll often check in a few times.

And I admit - I let my DD (almost 4) play a few of the Facebook games, like Restaurant City and Pet Society. Oh, how she loves them and they often keep her occupied while I'm cooking dinner.

Oh yes. But I don't play the games, install apps, etc... every.single family member lives 12+ hours away so it's the easiest way to communicate with them. And I don't sit for hours, I pop on and off pretty quickly
I've thought about deleting it but I just can't do it... I hate email so that's how they see all our pics.

Yes, but not for long periods of time. I probably check it 10-12 times a day, just to read status updates, look at pics etc. If I get a few minutes between homeschool and everything else I usually retreat to the computer to clear my head.

When I'm nursing I'm often on MDC or flicking between MDC and FB.

I spend most of the day logged into Facebook, but check it sporadically throughout the day. It's really the only way I have to keep in touch with people. Ds2 screams when I'm on the phone, so Facebook is a much easier option for me because I don't have to strain to hear people over a screaming baby.

I do play games on there, mostly at night after everyone has gone to bed. Mothering is another time suck, I can spend hours on both.

I love FB and mothering! FB is nice for when I am nursing or DS has already fallen asleep in my arms (sometimes I read, but a sleeping baby makes page turning difficult!) But I think I would wither a little without the internet, in my pre baby life I was very social 24/7 and now, with only one car, I don't get out and about as much as before, but I still feel 'connected' with FB etc... but I do not play the games or add the apps

Me too! Well, when I was at home. Now that I am back at work part-time, I take my Blackberry phone in the bathroom while I am nursing and go on FB or surf the web on my phone. Ha ha.

i have to give myself facebook fasts every once in a while to put it in perspective. like a pp I don't do any of the quizzes, games, etc, just do status updates, post pics, etc. i have made myself lists too, so i can sort through groups of people and look at the ones i really want to keep close contact with and then when i have more time look at others that i'm not as close with, but still want to see what they're up to once in a while.
mdc has been sucking a lot more of my time recently, but it just feels good to feel like you're in the same boat with someone!

This. It only takes me about 10-15 minutes while I drink my morning coffee and feed my babe breakfast.

My husband just got me sucked into Mafia Wars...

I really like FB, much better than myspace which was my introduction into social networking sites. I find that on FB, I get a lot of birth advocacy in. I love sharing links. Sure, I could be blogging about those links but find it easier to just link to an interesting webpage with a comment, instead of set up the whole big blog post.

I check FB fairly often. I like that I can IM people, though I don't do this often. (I don't like making phone calls.)

I don't play the games. I hide mafia wars and all that. I've deleted a couple people I decided I didn't want on there after all.

I rarely post, though I think that's more of an introvert thing than a SAHP thing.

I could kind of take it or leave it, but it has helped me catch up with one friend I had really been missing. And it's nice to know what's going on with people without having to talk to them all the time.

I'm on FB and MDC a lot.. usually for a minute or two at a time multiple times a day. Since I SAH, it helps me stay 'connected' to other people. I have a lot of friends from church who SAH who have FB, as well as friends from highschool, when I used to work, etc. It's nice to have an easy way to keep in touch. Plus I like to show off pics of the boy.

the friends who pop up most frequently on my news feed are tied between the SAHMs and the desk-job types. Actually, to be fair a few of the SAHMs are actually online WAHMs so they are probably working at the same time.

Some friend invited me to be their neighbor on farmville and the rest was history...sigh. I can just say that if it wasn't for the kids helping out I probably would go cropless.

It's a big time suck, but try to do it when I'm NAKing already.

No, I was online far more when I worked than I am now.

I check my email, facebook, and here every morning and every night. I don't play any games on FB, and I ignore any of those odd requests and gifts and things.

I don't think it's a time waster at all, I find fb an efficient way to keep in touch with family and friends. It's a heck of a lot quicker to post that we have the flu, then to call or send emails to everyone.

Ummmm... yeah.

It's just me and the dog here from 9am - 3pm and cooking, cleaning, volunteering, baking, running errands and shopping can only fill up so many hours.

well I only recently 'discovered' it... and I just got a laptop when I have been puterless for months... so I leave my FB page up all the time and check it a bit. I recently added a few women from here from another thread to offer natural living support to each other. I do not use the applications. I have not seen the people I found through there for 20 years or more, so I am still catching up with who has children and what jobs and whatnot. One of my friends posts wonderful news stories I wouldn't have seen otherwise so I like that too.

I also am on quite a bit while nursing my DD. It helps me have a little adult conversation during the day

Nope, usually about 5-10 minutes during the morning. Even though I'm a SAHM I don't spend much time on the computer, usually 30 minutes total.
