I caught poop.

In my hand.

Fresh from Dougie's air-drying undiapered butt, I caught poop.

Then, while I tried disposing of the poop, the toilet into which I deposited the poop I caught in my hand...overflowed.

I am not making this up.

Poop. Water. Everywhere.

I had barefeet. I had poop in my hand. I had an overflowing toilet.

--------------------------------------------------

Fast forward to the cleaned, scoured and now dry bathroom. To the tired Mom, listening to the whir of the washer and dryer with all the loads of poopy bathroom towels and robes. Listen to the three year old voice pipe,

"Mommy I pooped my pants."

When DD was maybe a month old, DH and I were giving her a bath in one of those baby tubs. She pooped in the water and I, without hesitation, scooped it out and ran to flush it down the toilet. (DH was with her- I didn't leave her alone in the tub.) DH couldn't believe I did it.

Isn't it weird the stuff we will do for these little people?

I'm right there with you, sister. I've caught pewp, urine, vomit, snot...

If an adult pooped on me I'd probably go ballistic. But like I tell hubby - "One of the great axioms of life is that s*** washes off."

usually we give ds his bath in the evening, but one morning on a trip, he really needed a bath... had that sour toddler smell, y'know?

i figure, he usually does his big poop-of-the-day right after breakfast, and all he's done so far is nurse, so we're probably safe... i tell dh to go ahead and pop him in the tub. (we're in a motel)

i'm out sorting clothes and i hear dh holler, NOOOOOO!

sure enough... everywhere. at least it was IN the tub, but it was EVERYWHERE in the tub!

i think the maids hated us. we cleaned as best we could, but... well, you know!

(we DID leave 'em a nice tip!)

You almost have to laugh, because if you don't laugh, you'll cry, right? Thanks for sharing that story, mama! It will be a good one to share when your little one is older.

LOL - been there done that. I recall the poop in the bathtub, then on the rug, then down baby legs, then on me, then on the towel, then on me naked (after I had taken off the pooped on clothes.) I didn't even know where to start with the cleaning up because everything in the bathroom had poop on it! At least the toilet didn't over flow too!

Yuck. You win. I was thinkin my day was bad because I was bottle nursing sicky DS and he spit out his ba without warning and BARFED ALL OVER BOTH OF US...then I set him down to go get clean clothes and stuff--and he wasn't done! the area rug caught it. But the tub DH rinsed the pukey clothes into didn't clog and I don't have another kid to start pooping or something two minutes later....yup you win. What a sh*tty day....
