Montessori practices in the home...

Hi, I'm new and wanted to see if anyone is using Montessori principles at home with infants or toddlers. I was a Montessori teacher, and now stay at home with my daughter, and would love to find other parents to brainstorm with.

You might want to try the montessori forum under learning. I am trying to apply some of the principles with my 15 month old son and it has been working out well.

I was just going to say that my mom is also a Montessori teacher and she always suggests things we can do at home. One thing that I love is that she suggested having small shelves at his height and putting his toys on those, in easy view and reach. I love it... it makes it neat, and they aren't all hidden at the bottom of a toy chest!

I have a book called "Montessori from the Start." It's for children from Birth to 3. I haven't finished it, but it's pretty good thus far.
