Anyone out there have a baby with Laryngomalacia?

I have been told that my dd has Laryngomalacia (floppy larynx). I noticed her loud breathing started when she was about 4 weeks. I constantly brought it up to her ped but he kept dismissing it. Finally I demanded an answer and he told me that he that he thought it was Trachomalacia (floppy trachea) so I insisted that I see a specialist. So we saw the specialist and he said laryngomalacia but the only way to know for sure would be to scope ther throat and he did not feel that was necessary.

She also has a constant stuffy nose and a dry cough that sounds more like her throat is irritated than anything else. This nose and throat thing has also been going on since she was about 4 weeks sometimes it is worse than others but it is always there. She also sneezes more than just a few times a day. She has had purple circles under her eyes since she was born too. I have suggested allergies to her ped repetatly but he tells me "no" so I ask him is this related to the laryngomalacia? From what I have read it's not. He says it's all normal baby stuff. She is always rubbing her nose and blowing it on me. She also snores.
Any suggestions or personal experiance feedback would be so great!
Thanks,
Amy

I think you need a ped who'll take you seriously. I would say that the Laryngomalacia could be causing some sleep issues but you'd probably know that. From your symptoms, I'd say she probably has two problems, Laryngomalacia and allergies. You may want to get her allergy tested. Looks like you have pets so you may want to start with them. I don't have experience with what floppy larynx but have a few friends with kiddos with floppy trachea (common problem with vented kids which my son was).

Hope you find some answers.

BTW, I'm in Aurora. Where are you at?

Hi! I'm currently in Waukegan but we are moving to Evanston next month
I am going to start looking for a new ped. Another member here gave me a few good places to try out in the northern suburbs. So I am going to look into them. Do you have a good Ped? I don't mind traveling if it's worth the trip. I just want Elle to have a good doc!
Thanks,
Amy

Enjoy the move. Try doing a search in the tribal areas. a couple good peds have been mentioned. Mine's ok but nothing to drive for. He lets me take my kiddo whenever I want and has already stopped asking about vaxs but isn't too happy with it. hehe. better than my son's ped.
