Occational Bleeding
Not sure if this should be here or not but ever since I stopped bleeding from having the baby (he's 3 months now) I bleed about once/week. I keep thinking that I'm starting my period but it goes away. Then a week or so later I start bleeding again. Should I be concerned?
Thanks!

Uhhh . . . . I'd like to offer an answer, but I'm rather interested in this subject myself as I seem to have periodic 'brown' (sorry . . . kind of gross, I know) spotting. Kenny is 9 weeks now. I thought I was starting, but it can't be that . . . and we are bf'ing SOOOO much that it wouldn't seem fair if that was the problem.

Yes, sometimes mine is brown too. I'm tandem nursing so I just don't see how it could be my period! UGH! Well, at least I know I'm not alone!

Okay, and now that I think about it . . . sometimes it is kind of 'pasty' and 'sticky' . . . . wow, talk about TMI . . . and sometimes it seems more fluid, like a period - but not heavy (and I'm a heavier period kind of gal).
I also had some cramping the last time - like it was a period. So, I figured my body was just cleansing from the birth.

I would call your doctor or midwife. My midwife didn't want to see any bleeding after 6 weeks pp. However, it could be just hormonal fluctuations with having the baby and bfing. I would definately check it out with someone more qualified. Good luck.

With my last baby I stopped bleeding after 9 weeks but I would also bleed everyso often. Started noticing that it would start about a day or to after having been with dh (blush) . Talked to my m/w about it and she said it sounded like I had a yeast infection even though it didnt bother me and the fragile flesh would get 'fried" from the friction. She had me take Gy-Na-Tren Flora, took care of the bleeding.
I am wondering if I always have a yeast infection as both of my girls had yeast infections right after birth. If I do it NEVER bothers me :

I would suggest talking to your midwife or doctor about it as well. I also had some break-through bleeding after dd2 was born (and quite awhile after the lochia should have stopped).
I can't remember how long it lasted - maybe a couple of months or so? But my midwife did keep an eye on it. They suggested at the time that maybe it was caused by doing too much and not resting enough to let my body recover after giving birth. Could that be the case with you?

 That would be me
I came home in fast forward. Heck, I was up and showered with sneakers on 45 minutes after Kenny was born so I could hike him down to the nursery myself for 'checking.' I think they were perturbed I didn't prefer the plastic box. I really felt energized after having him though. Anyone else experience that?

my baby turned 8 months old today, and last week I bled. I thought I was starting too, but then I realized how stressed I was about something silly. I remembered that a few weeks after he was born I stopped bleeding, but to this day, obviously since it just happened last week, whenever I get really, really stressed it starts again. And when it begins to go away, it turns brown and sticky. As soon as I stopped stressing a few hours later, it stopped.
peace,

You may need more rest. Make sure you are getting enough rest to recover from your ordeal.
The other problem may be that part of the placenta may have been left in there.
Keep breastfeeding. It will force you to sit down and rest. Put your feet up and rest. Drink lots of fluids. Are you using formula?
