supposed to start clomid on cd 5 but not sure when that exactly is?

Hi Guys,

Sorry to ask yet another clomid question but I'm confused and hope someone here can help. I'm starting my first round of clomid this month. I'm supposed to start at CD5 and continue through CD 9. Last month I had either a chemical pregnancy or an early m/c. the office NP said when I called: start from first day of 'Bleeding.' I passed thick clots very late last Weds night. Mostly clots with some blood last Thurs, and more blood than clots last Fri. Regular bleeding Sat and Sun. Today is Monday. So, I'm either at CD 5 (if start from last Thurs) or CD 4 (if start from last Friday).

Which day should I start my count? Is it better to be off by being too early in my cycle or too late?

Thanks so much!

If you are uncertain at all call your care provider.

My understanding is that the ideal time to start clomid is starting on days 3, 4 or 5. I typically start on cd 3, however I have started it as late as cd 5.

Hope that helps.

Good idea to call about this. I am starting clomid soon and asked for clarification b/c I've had brown spotting for most of the last cycle. RN said that cd 1 should be "1st day of normal flow" and for me that is light, but red and more than the little brown spotting I've had.

I know your situation is different but thought I'd pass that comment on.
: for you!

thanks guys. i got the 'normal flow' part too, but last cycle was so abnormal, it's hard to know when it's normal enough to start counting.
