We live in Snow Hill, but are often in the Salisbury area at the library, health food store, Ben's Red Swings (DD is crazy about swings right now
), NINO Delmarva meetings (trying to set up monthly ones! Woohoo!).
At home, we're likely to be baking, gardening, playing in the yard, or washing diapers
.
I know there are lots (ok, well maybe not lots) of Eastern Shore mamas here! Maybe we can have a monthly chat thread here on FYT as well as meeting up in person?
I need to meet someone else who washes diapers and goes to the HFS
:....BTW which one do you go to?
I like the one by the College...Health Store and More? I think....
We like BRS, have you been to the Boundless Playground off RT 50?
Love it! You can see the entire playground no matter where ya are. My big boy doesn't like to stay with the babies, so he likes to head off and play with the bigger kids...I like to see him too ya know?
Should we just keep a thread "inside" this tribal area? If not it might get lost
yeah, we like Health Store & More (used to be over on Mt. Hermon, but I guess they bought out the current owners at Healthful Habits on College Ave....?).
Tell me more about the boundless playground, please! I'd love to have another option. We've had a few instances where DD gets out of my sight and 'loses' me. I try to let her explore on her own as much as possible, so keeping her in sight without hovering would be GREAT.
I'm up for chatting here in our tribal area. Don't wanna get lost in big ol' mdc.
I don't know how to explain, but if you are headed south on RT 13 after PRMC, there is a left turn at the Dover Downs blillboard that would put you back on rt 50 business...(I'm pretty sure...I'm not from Salisbury...so I could be mistaken, but I think I'm right
)
Anyhow when you make that turn, it's on the right. There is a gate to keep the kids off the road. There is a soft area for babies and sand and big kids stuff too.
Also a shaded area (gazeebo type thing) Over all it's very clean and a well laid out playground. No potties though, but we have a portable in the van.
Hi I'm Megan
I'm a WOHM live in Quantico, work in Cambridge. DD is in daycare PT and DH is a SAHD (long story how dd ended up in dc with dh home). Baby is due soon so DH will have lots to do at home.
I've always wanted to get him together with you ladies for play dates. Maybe I'll take off a half a day here soon and we'll all three come out.
DH and DD go to BRS and the Zoo once a week just about and then they usually pick one other place to go. Chuck e cheese or mini golf the boardwalk whatever strikes them and of course the monthly trips up to Yoders
I am always looking for women on the shore who are willing to help with efforts to reverse the ban on VBACs at Memorial Hospital at Easton. The ban at Frederick Memorial WAS successfully reversed last August so it is possible to do. Anyone interested send me a p.m. Thanks.
Hello! I am from Easton, I just posted on the roll-call forum and then read this, duh! I am so glad to be reading these posts, sometimes I think I'm all alone out here! I work very part time at Easton Memorial, and yes I agree with your reverse on VBAC's, but I come from Baltimore, so the hospital seems to do a lot of things backwards to me... Otherwise I SAHM with our ds Logan who is 17mos. My hubby, Steven, is a pest control tech for J.C. Ehrlich (not to be confused with the politician
) so if you ever see his blue truck that says "The Bug Stops Here" give him a wave! I laughed so hard when I saw that truck, who would ever put that slogan on there! We try to shop over at Railway, where I worked for a couple of years when I lived here in the late 90's but I'll admit, I can't always afford it! We go to storytime at the library, take classes at the YMCA, walk around the neighborhood and go to the park. Currently, we've been outside as much as possible! It's been so nice, of course except for today... I hope to get my real estate license in May so I can WAHM and sell houses!

lolo'smom! I had my DD in Easton...(I think we PM-ed about it a while back)...I loved my mw and had a positive experience at the hospital (except for one nurse who tried to give DD formula twice after I said not to...
: ). Even so, the lack of birthing choices here is truly frustrating....but, that's a whole 'nother thread...

Hi! I too used to wash diapers but we are now doing the diaperfree challenge(so I wash pants instead
) and it's going very well for us! (we have been ecing since Alex was 2.5 months) Alex, is almost 5 months old, we live in Dagsboro, I work in Salisbury and Alex comes to work with me (and school and lots of other places)! My husband is in the construction business and is an obsessed kite boarder. Alex was born at the Birth Center in Wilmington after I got absolutely scared of the impending birthing at PRMC with a Salisbury OB. What a great decision it was and totally worth the drive! We too try to spend as much time outside as possible. Rachel and everyone else, lets go to Assateague together! We have two dogs that Alex and I walk every day twice and on the weekends we always try to go to the beach, which I love and hope that Alex will too. I have only met two Eastern Shore moms in person at the first NINO meeting (that revolutionized my life!) and can't wait to see more of them and meet more!

hey, mama! Good to see you around here.
I've gotta get on board with EC-ing next time around. It wasn't even on my radar with L. She's just now showing interest in the potty, and I can see where it would be a much more natural transistion with EC....
Assateague sounds great. I don't think we'll be back from our trip to the Western shore in time for next weekend. But soon! Now that I've found success with a back carry in the mei tai, I'm loving long-ish walks babywearing. I'm on the hunt for a wrap, too, though.
If I can master a rucksack with a supportive wrap, I'll be in heaven....
How about Assateague next weekend? I too am dying to learn back carries with the wrap... I am so far just using the front cross carry - all I learned how to do! We are going to the bay side near Dewey right now. My husband is kite boarding there. Yesterday we did baby yoga practically on the beach (on the balcony facing the ocean) and walked near Bethany! I love this weather!

Hello again! I have heard good things about the mommy ward there, too and I finally got in with dr. liu who is sooooo great. If I hadn't gotten in with her, I was just going to go back up to St. Joesph's in Towson (when I got pregnant again) where I had my ds with my mw (we just moved here a year ago). What mw do you have here? Penny?
And Megan W - I have heard all about the market, my parents just sold their house, oh the drama! Well, for now I'll just have my license and when the market turns around... Until then, I have the ER at the hospital for a little cash. I am just soooo done with working in the medical field! When I tell people at work that logan wears cloth they look at me like I"m insane!

I
her. She played a big part in making me feel that I had the best possible hospital-birth experience. If I could only get her to attend a hb next time around...
I don't want to commit to Assateague this coming weekend, since I'm not sure when we'll be back from Baltimore. The following weekend is busy, too, with Mother's Day and all....But let's try to get there before the tourists invade us for the season!

Yes, if we can't beat the bugs, let's at least beat the tourists!
Hi everyone!
I'm going to be relocating to Rehoboth this summer and would love to meet up with any and all of you! Right now I'm traveling back and forth before it's official and not really sure of my schedule.
Is there anyone kinda close to Rehoboth? Sounds like a lot are in or near Salisbury, although, I'm not too familiar with the smaller towns around the area.
I'm so grateful for MDC FYT!

I'm about 20 minutes outside of Salisbury...guessing it's almost an hour to Rehoboth for me now. Used to pop over there all the time for day trips when I lived in OC and Berlin--shopping downtown, lunch at the Thai place (mmmm....), strolling the boards...Now, it's just too far to go very often
(I have a toddler who hates the car).
Hopefully we can meet up, though. Summer will be hard with traffic (I'm just a wimp, though. Can't deal with beach traffic. Too many years of living and working in OC, I guess. Or I'm just getting old and cranky
)
I'm grateful for FYT, too. Don't think I'd have made any mama friends, otherwise.
Carleigh ~ We go to Rehoboth frequently - usually to shop or have lunch w/my DH since he works up there most days. I take 113 to 26 (I *think* that's what it is, I just know it from driving it!) so the beach traffic isn't terrible. I won't do it on a Friday though!
Rachel ~ PLEASE tell where there's a good Thai restaurant - we've been going without for far too long and everyone we ask says they don't know of any places around here. I would absolutely be willing to drive to Bethany/Rehoboth/Lewes to get it too!

We go to the little place on Rehoboth Ave. (Thai by the Sea or something like that...ack, Mommy brain...) It's close to the boardwalk on the left if facing the ocean. It's pretty good....some things I've had there have been eh, but most is good. I
Thai iced tea, so anywhere I can get that.....mmmmm....
Alright, mamas, we're headed to Baltimore for the rest of the week. DH is at a training for work and me, L., and my Mom are going up, too. We hope to stay long enough to make it to the MD Sheep & Wool fest this weekend. I'll check in again when we get back on the shore!

That's funny! THat was the first place where I breastfed in public!

I now how the car thing can be, ESPECIALLY with traffic - yuk! Maybe I'll be able to catch up with you at a NINO meeting sometime. I'm sure I'll be making some drives to get out and meet some folks!

Yay!! How long of a drive is it for you? I'll be sure to let you know when we make our move. Anyone know of an Indian Restaurant in the area?
Now off to try and change my username! I'm kinda new at this online stuff

It's about an hour, but it's an easy drive. Salisbury is about 40 minutes, so it's really no different for me. Sorry, I'm no help on the Indian restaurant. I know Rehoboth has WAY better restaurants than OC, but unfortunately, we just plain don't get out much. We're trying to change that though
Nice to see you here :0) I was chatting with you on the NINO group earlier
looks like you already found us!
Welcome to MDC..(even though you joined a while back..
)
Have a good night!
