A for Girls, D for Boys. Oppinions Please!!!

Our son's name starts with D and our daughters name starts with A

If it's a boy with need a D name and a girl needs an A name.

What are ya'll's thoughts on Dartagnan for a boy, or Dresden?

I'm also looking for a girl name that is two names pushed together that starts with an A and ends in double letters. Here are a few we're thinking of.

Audriann
Aubriann
Aunalee
Avalee

Our middle name choices are either Lily or Violet. (DD's middle name is Rose)

Ready....Set....Go!

I like Dartagnan a lot, but I love books so... There is also Dante, but I think it is getting too popular. I also considered Darwin.

As for girls, I think Audrey is a nice name. It's my best friend's name and I always thought it was kind of generic and blah but I'm starting to like it a lot. There also is Adele or Adela.

There also is a girl at DD's daycare named Aëla, it is pronounced in French.

We are going to have an A girl (Ainslie). DH met a doctor with that name and it's been his pick ever since...

I love the literary impact of Dartagnan! Dresden is short and to the point I knew a Dino once, for me his name is still unique to this day!

Dresden might not be my top choice because it reminds me of the fire bombing of Dresden in WWII. But I'm a history person.

What about:

Annemarie
Annaliese
Aimee (pronouced Ah-may)
Anika

Dante
David
Drake
Dallas
Dana
Dean
Dillon
Dmitri
Devon
Drew
Dustin

That's so coincidental! We love A names for girls and D names for boys too! We've picked Audrey for a girl and Dylan for a boy.

Some of the other girl A names on my list:
Aila
Alena / Alana / Alina
Alina / Alisa
Amara
Amaya / Anaya
Amelie
Anais
Audrina
Aurea

the only other D ones I have (girls are so much easier!):
Dean
Derek
Devin / Devon
Dominic

hmmm... combo girl names...
Amelina
Annabelle
Angelia

[QUOTE=ledzepplon;11393040]Dresden might not be my top choice because it reminds me of the fire bombing of Dresden in WWII. But I'm a history person.

I also think of the fire-bombing of Dresden. Not a happy association.

Dartagnan makes me think of the Three Musketeers, which makes me think of dueling.

My suggestions:
D
Dart
Dashiel

A
Arleigh (Pronounced "Arlee" or "Arlay")
Adelina

Dartagnan is fine though you might want to think of a nickname just because its a mouthful. Dresden seems too full of violence still...I also think of the bombing of Dresden rather than the pottery or the place. If you have some close connection to the place you could go with it, but I'm afraid a lot of people will remember it as a very sad thing. Drayden (this is a real name but I am not sure I'm spelling it right...look up correct spelling) is a name with a similar sound without the associations. Dashiell is another great D name with a cool nickname.

Aveline is an A name that means hazlenut and is similar to Avalee...that was my favorite of the names you listed there.

I love the name Dartagnan! My DH would never agree to it, tho. As far as girl names go, I don't think I can recommend anything different, except:

Audra

I have two girls with "A" names, Adriana and Alea. Both great names. I love the flower theme you have, I would pick Lily.

I love Dominic and Donavan for boys. Annika, Avery, Allison, Anya and Amelia for girls. Oh, a friend of mine gave her dd the middle name Azalee which I think is gorgeous, too.

Ooooh I love Donavan! DH doesn't care much for it though. Dartagnan is really growing on me. I've been giving the nickname thing a little more thought and you can almost get Dan out of it. I think Danny is adorable but of course DH is skeptical, mainly because his name is Daniel! lol!

I began really liking Dresden after reading, "The Dresden Files" and there was a show on sci-fi channel and it was really good! Harry Dresden was the guy's name and I just fell in love with it.

I'm pretty partial to "Antoinette" (as its my name, and everyone always says, "Wow what a pretty name" or "Oh I LOVE your name").

If we were having a boy, Dominic was a strong runner for his name. But we're having a girl I also like the name Darian, or Dante.

Picking out a name is SO stressful!
