The young leaves (mostly before they have flowers) are good for salads with other flavorful greens and a sweet light dressing. The flowers are edible too. You can infuse them in oil, alcohol, vinegar, or sugar syrup. The roots can be washed, chopped up, and dried in the oven on low to make something for a tea or coffee like beverage.

The only way I ever make them is the way my grandma did - as a salad with a hot bacon dressing. We've also made fritters with the flowers - my boys love those.

That salad sounds yummy.
We have made dandelion wine with the flowers.
