I learned a very hard lesson today. To remember, I say remember to NOT touch your eyes AT ALL after saving jalapeno seeds or any hot pepper seeds I might add especially when your driving. I had to pull over and pour water in my eye and all over myself. Luckily I was just going to the storage place to get something out and go back home. Sheesh. That was not fun. I will remember next time, I hope.

Ouch! If you are not allergic to it, you could put a little milk in your eye. I was having dinner out with friends once and one of the ladies bit into her sandwich and juice from a hot banana pepper shot into another woman's eye. Someone suggested she put some milk in it and it worked. Not that you are likely to touch your eyes again after dealing with peppers....

I am a 40 year old unschooling, belly dancing, artist-mama of one almost 8 year old. I just had brain surgery and blogging.jpg about it a bit because it's just so surreal.

Wow, that will probably never happen again. Pepper juice from across the table, crazy. Yeah, if I was at home I probably would have used milk.

I get capsaicin in my eyes every single time I do something with peppers. It's the absolute worst feeling! I always forget gloves until after I've already started cutting. Then I worry all day about having to take out my contacts at night. lol.

Oh, that would be scary. I couldn't imagine having to worry about contacts and pepper juice.

Oh yeah, I've made that mistake before. And in...um... other places.

What i do now is keep a box of latex gloves in the kitchen drawer with the ziplock baggies and such. When the chiles come out, the gloves go on!

Oh my, I know how bad that can be. Even worse--- Saturday I split and seeded about 75 jalapenos for the freezer. Well, my hands swelled and burned like fire for about 6-7 hours, it was awful. I'm all about gloves from now on!

Oh, I didn't realize you were seed saving! I thought it was just salsa time. Now you know why my box of gloves is down in my chest of [canning] drawers in the pantry. Heh. Kinda makes me giggle though since you had gloves on while weeding here...

Hahaha! Yes, I was, but I was also pregnant and I think of these things when I'm pregnant. When I'm not I just do things without thinking and suffer the consequences.

Eek! So sorry to laugh at your painful experience, but I could so see myself doing the same thing.

Hah! It was my own fault. I really didn't think the seeds themselves would be so bad esp. a day later.
