Some of my zucchini are getting blossom-end rot. I was told to put crushed egg shells around the plants which I did before they were even producing because I wanted to prevent it, but its still happening. It happened on my peppers and yellow squash last year as well, but those are not producing yet so I have yet to see what they will do. What do you do (that is all-natural, organic) for this problem?
I have the same problem with one of my tomato plants. I was just reading about it and it said it's a calcium deficiency, which is probably why eggshells are supposed to help! The site I read recommended a calcium supplement for the soil. Good luck!
Nothing much you can do now, but next year plant the crushed eggshell in the hole where you plant stuff (or under the zucchini seed or whatever). I *think* you could try something like spraying a milk solution on the leaves or around the plant, but don't quote me on that. Another thing for the future is to keep in mind that certain varieties of things are more prone to blossom end rot - like roma tomatoes and such, and just plant accordingly. :) Good luck!
(If you're curious, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010, and yes, it's a busy house)
I had the same problem with my zucchini this year. I ended up losing the whole plant. :-( I had no idea it was a calcium deficiency - will remember the eggshells for next year!

We keep a bin of crushed eggshells in our shed and anytime we plant tomatoes/peppers/squash we put a small handful right in the hole we plant in, works like a charm!
