The big nasty grasshoppers in my cucumbers are grossing me out. Any ideas what might make them go away?

birds LOVE to eat them.

Put some birth baths and feeders near the garden. Be careful tho, that is a good way to plant corn and sunflowers. And be careful if you have a cat, that could be really horrific.

that is the best way.

Ohh and in South Ga, we get grasshoppers taht are the size of small birds. Just a little larger than a parakeet!! They are black with red wings. Crazy and GROSS GROSS GROSS!! When you step on them it is like squashing a melon. Soo yucko!!!!!

That's a big problem because my 2 cats actually lounge out there in the shade of the cucumber vines & one in particular is a very skilled bird hunter.
Do you think garlic/pepper spray would do anything at all to keep them away or would they just laugh & carry on?
