My summer raspberries are fruiting away, but the fruit-bearing stems are so sad and unhealthy looking. Yellow and wilting. The new stems (that will make fruit next summer) are fine, all green and bushy. But this year's stems are in really bad shape. Is this normal? As they fruit, they are dying back? Or is there something that I can do to help them be healthier?
In my experience that's completely normal. The fruit bearing stems are giving all of their energy to the berries. As long as your fruit is healthy, it sounds just fine.
Anyone else see the before children/after children comparison here? Ha!
