I have noticed that my basil plants have holes in them. What could be causing this? Should I be putting something on the plants? Kamie

If you water during the day, the sun can burn holes in the leaves. This is true of other plants as well, though, so if it's just the basil it could be something eating it. Not too many bugs like basil though. I plant it to keep my other plants from getting eaten.

Hmmm,

My book says the japanese beetle, slug, and snails will go after them so if you have any of those living in your yard that might be what's going after them. From The Gardener's A-Z Guide to Growing Organic Food.

You can water during the day you just have to be careful. If you have irrigation lines then you can water during the day too.
