Hi.

Is it safe and/or worth it to compost pencil shavings?

I don't see why not. The "lead" is really just graphite, and the shavings are just wood shavings.

As to whether it's WORTH the effort, I dunno. But hey, you're talking to a woman who also composts dryer lint, hair from hairbrushes, and my own pee, so, sure! Every little bit helps, I say.

Well, that's me - sort of like - NOTHING can go to waste. But I had enver seen it mentioned anywhere so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info.

as for the lint. i just throw it in the yard and the birds, rats, whatever can carry it off to use in their nests.
