The Hudson Valley Seed Library. We are a new kind of seed company- small, independent, farm-based, and dedicated to responsible and participatory seed stewardship. All of our varieties are open-pollinated, non-GMO, beautiful and tasty.

a couple of more... Landreth seed company is organic and open pollinated and the oldest seed company in the country, dating back to 1784.  In fact Thom Jefferson and George Washington used to order seeds from them.  The Catalog costs $5.00 but it's published in this country by a small company in Boston.  http://www.landrethseeds.com/

Also Johnny's Selected Seeds has a lot of organic and open-pollinated seeds, I'm not sure if it's 100% but they carry some really wonderful heirloom seeds.

Hi Cathy, Please list our two Seed companies.

http://www.pennystomatoes.com and

http://www.pepperjoe.com

Most seeds are Organic...NO GMO's, no chemicals no machines.

Just a lot of Sunshine and Fresh air to dry our seeds.

D. Landreth Seed Company?  I hope they are as that's how they promote themselves.  I just bought a bunch from them!  I see others are mentioning them as well.  They are actually going out of biz soon because they are being so pushed out by Big Ag.  Get em while you can if confirmed legit!

I do believe that Park Seed, in Greenwood, SC, is also Monsanto free; at least according to my conversations with them. They're local and real nice people to do business with.

The Thyme Garden offers organic herb seeds with a wide selection, great prices, excellent customer service and great germination rates. I've used them for years: http://www.thymegarden.com/site/561124/

Ever Wilde Farms offers wildflowers, wild grasses, herbs and vegetables that are heirloom and native. This is my first year ordering so I can't vouch for the germination rate yet but they have great turn around times on getting them out. http://www.everwilde.com/

Reimer Seeds offer over 5,000 GMO-free seeds for vegetables, herbs and flowers with many unusual seeds (rice, cotton, peppercorns, jicama, tobacco, gum arabic trees, etc.). Again this is my first year ordering but turn around time was quick. http://www.reimerseeds.com/

Ferry-Morse is owned by Jiffy International, a Norwegian Company that owns Jiffy (the seed starter pots and pellets), McKenzie Seed (a Canadian Company) and Tref which seems to be involved in peats and soil building components. I emailed them to see if I could find out if they grow all their own seeds, if they use GMO's or buy any seeds from Seminis.

Monsanto bought the seed company Seminis and owns patents on seeds developed by Seminis; some companies like Burpees still buy some seed from Seminis and trial test them before they sell them; the following link goes to a site that lists the seed (and thus seed patents) varieties now owned by Monsanto, even if they were developed before the purchase.

Monsanto purchased Seminis seed Co. and in the process, bought the patents to many seeds developed by Seminis, many of which were developed before the purchase.

These varieties are the seeds that are owned by Monsanto and that other companies such as Burpees, buy from Seminis

I called the company directly the representative told me that since each state has different guidelines they are all chemical and gmo free. Their website is their company name plus . Com
