Aletheia, I just finished Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. I too was totally inspired. In fact it got me to start our blog... so that I could keep on gardening with enthusiasm. Wait until you get to the part where she starts harvesting everything. That certainly makes me want to help my husband in his canning and freezing quest.

Serene, this is a lovely spot to live. Sure, we have our share of problems, but overall I love it here.

Aletheia - I had some trouble from the freak weather over the last week. Except I'm out of town for work, so I have somebody else trying to save my veggies! I think all is OK now. We'll see how everything goes... :

One flat of onions destroyed thanks to an 18 month old who thought they needed more water. The sacrifices I make for unschooling.

I've added lettuces, kale, chards, peppers and luffas to the mix.

I'm making another starting rack (sans lights) because I have so many trays now and if I just cycle them from lights to ground, the toddler tries to help. I'll just leave the lights on 24/7 and move which plants are under the lights.

I just got some strawberries and blueberries in the mail - anybody have any great advice for those?

Homesteading, unschooling mama of three.
