The info says full sun but the leaves are getting brittle and curling, the ground is plenty damp... should I move it to a shadier spot?

They should be fine in full sun. I wonder if they don't like too much water. Any blackberry experts?

I see them growing in all types of light--full sun in pastures, partial shade in back yards, the understory of a forest. I don't know enough about them to know what they really like, though.

Chasing DS since April 2007 and pumping for DD March 2013.

I'd say full sun. But.

Did you *just* transplant them? I know it looked like I killed our new blueberry bushes for about 2 weeks after I planted them - they were in transit for a few days and I planted 'em the day we got them. Took 2-3 weeks for the stems to get back to green (yes, they turned brown!) and now I'm getting a few leaves!

The blackberry canes I got the same day and planted the same day were basically just big sticks, and we just got 2 little green leaves on one cane in the last few days. So they may just need more time to acclimate.

Thanks for sharing. I hope that is the case. This week I've had quite a few things die, talk about a let down. If my strawberries weren't going strong, I'd be tempted to tell DH to forget about half of our garden and start over.

They can grow nearly anywhere, but they'll produce much much much better in full sun! Could be that the ground is too moist.
