Hi! We might be moving to Hong Kong in September and I was wondering if anyone knows about the homeschooling laws there for expats.
We live in Spain now and unschool, and obviously we want to continue down that same road.
Homeschooling is illegal in Hong Kong, however what I've read suggests that officials look the other way for expats. The website geobaby (dot com) is your best resource for expat family living in Hong Kong. I did read on there that there is a homeschooling community in Discovery Bay.
(We aren't in Hong Kong, but it seems to come up every few years that my husband might take a job there, so I've researched the geobaby boards a thousand and one times.)
There are ways around it for sure. I know several mothers in Dbay homeschool/unschool so I am sure you can find some info on geobaby. beware though, geobaby is FULL of mainstream/CIO/detatchment types. Lovely mums, but not the type you are likely to find here
I would suspect that although the mothers on geobaby may or may not practice the same types of parenting practices as you do bisonmama, that they are in fact attached to their babies and children.
