Sunshine85 I think you are very welcome here. Some of us are fully hairy, some of us are just hairy on our legs, some only have hairy pits, some are seasonal hairy as long as you support being hairy you will always be welcome here.

Are you still "thinking about embracing your natural hairiness?" Then you still belong here! "Thinking about" doens't have to mean "considering growing my hair back." It means that you think hairy women are cool and/or that you're cool when you're hairy, whatever the current state of your skin.

Sweetsunshine,
So it goes.
Every once in awhile, I get the compulsive feeling to shave due to the company I plan to encounter. Sometimes, there is just that thing about being hairy and it (unfortunately) interfering with a new person's perspective of an individual. No doubt about it, people make judgments...unfair judgments...based on physicalities. I shaved my legs, here and there, when I taught 12th grade...I knew those kids wouldn't "get it..." at least, not here, where I live.

Just back from a vacation in Costa Rica. We were really deep in the jungle and I was so surprised I was the only hairy female I saw the entire trip! I just cannot imagine caring enough living so rurally. Also I was struck by the trail of disposable razors going hairless leaves for most women. I went hairy long before I went green but I think it ends up tying together.

I did not even think about shaving or waxing for this trip. After last years family reunion waxing experience (bleeding pits for an entire day) I swore off hair removal forever. I think before that I had only waxed or shaved about twice in the last 25 years. I was, however, conscious of my hairiness most of the time. Didn't care, but did think about it. Crazy something so very un-natural has become the norm.....

So I'm new to this thread, and a part time hairy girl. I generally don't worry about my hair in the winter, but in the summer I'm a shaver or waxer. Here's my big issue. I have really dark, coarse hair on my legs. Like man legs. I've always envied lighter-haired ladies who bare it all complete with hair. But I've never had the confidence to do that. My husband doesn't really care, but I know he kind of digs it when I'm less hairy. But I'm terrified of going out with shorts on or in a bathing suit. Like I might scare little children or something. Anyone else have this issue?

I should probably be doing something else right now.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I haven't gotten back to y'all. It never showed any new posts! I definitely support natural hairiness and will likely grow it back pretty soon. Right now I'm at that itchy, stubble stage and can't decide whether to stick it out or shave. Grr... Human respect!

If there were a 'raises hand' smilie I would have used it! I love being hairy but I don't love the looks/comments it gets me. In the past I have waxed just the thickest hairs but that just starts a never endign battle

I am light haired but when it comes to my legs think Clinger from M*A*S*H*. Hehehe yep I used to watch it all the time. Anyway since I work out of the home this year and I dont wear shorts that often I am sure I will be more comfortable going hairy even in the summer but I have a feeling if we go to the pool or something I will shave but I do love being hairy and DH doesnt mind at all but I am sure he would like it if I didnt embarass him if we go out to the pool with the kids with hairy legs and pitts.

OMG Ruthla!!!! That's so awesome!

Happy, wonderful, hairy birthing vibes to you - russianthistle! :

Still here, still hairy, mostly happy! Moody and pregnant. My hair is growing like crazy. I have quite the "happy trail." I always do that when I'm pg. Oh well, hairy bellies are sexy right?

Glad to see this tribe active again.

I love all of you!

Heh! That is cool. What is the white star for tho'?

I've been lurking for a while, like since October?

But while on Christmas vacation forgot to shave, and did when I got home and was like, why did I do that? I love not shaving and being itchy and prickly all the time.

DH doesn't like it, but doesn't have any reasons. Since I never get the shower to myself and I always drop my razor, it is a little scary. So it's nice not having to worry about razors around DD. More than likely she'd try shaving.

It's been easy with sweaters, etc, but I have gone sleeveless, and we went on vacation to TX, and I went swimming and didn't bother shaving.
I'm a little proud of myself. And amused at how much (and what ways) MDC has influenced me.

Mama to 2 year old and :: June 14th!

Mind if I join you ladies? I have been hairy and loving it for 9 months now. I told myself that I would shave when summer came around, but I don't think I'm doing that now. I've gotten so attached to my soft fuzzy legs and armpits.

I have a question though; How long does it take for you to see full length in your armpits? I have been watching my hairs and they don't seem very thick and are only about 1/2 inch long. 9 months seems such a long time to have so little hair.

To all those pregnant mommas good for you for staying hairy. I did a little with monkey boy but I remember with Peanut I was doing yoga just to shave the tops of my legs that is crazy huh. I think I have come a long way and I am proud of it. Still have the pits hairy the legs have shaved a time or two because i am breaking out again yeah for me. Anyway hopefully this year i will see a dermatologist to find out what the heck is going on with my skin. Anyway loving the hairy pits. :

How do you do? And, how do you do? And, how do you do again?

My pit hair is probably around an inch long, max. I think that length depends on the person. I have very little pit hair, comparatively. I have a few friends who might be able to braid theirs

I live outside a small community (Marquette, MI) where, although the general public is conventional and shaven, there are a great deal of natural mamas (mostly my circle...a big circle ) who do not shave. None of my close friends shave. Neither my mw's and apprentices nor my doctor shave! I think I would feel weird if I did shave (plus, at 40 weeks, who can reach anything?!?).

i shaved my head but it's growin' back now.

and post pregnancy made all my leg hair fall out!! (not really ALL)

but every where else it continues to flow...

Place holders. The formatting on MDC automatically erases extra spaces, and then the picture doesn't work. Since white characters hardly show up, I used them to keep the rest of the design lined up.
