This may sound weird... but here's the situation...

My bonus daughter is 8 and I've known her since she was 5.  I have a 5 month old baby too.

usually I am the one helping my 8 year old take a shower over the weekend, cause dad is at work.  I want to help her learn how to properly dry off before running off to get dressed...  How do I help her make sure she's dry enough to put those undies on?

I always remind her, but I feel like she doesn't do it.  The situation is she stands in the bathroom with the towel wrapped around her and then runs to her bedroom to get dressed.  I feel like she's a bit old for me to be doing it for her? But then again, I don't have any experience with kids her age!

Im not sure what to do, just looking out for her health...

what do you mamas think?

I don't know- just tell her and show her- I still dry my kids off sometimes - they are 6 and 8. I would not make a big issue of it. Just say this is how we take care of our bodies.

I "drip-dry" to this day.  Maybe just allow her more time to stand there drip-drying?  Turn the overhead heater on (or a space heater) to help, if it's cold and damp where you are.  You could even buy her a proper spa robe so she's "dressed", kind of, while she drip dries.

Me, I hang out in my robe or towel for a solid 10 minutes before I dress.  There is no way I'm rubbing myself dry with the towel.  Maybe she's the same?

My mother would dab off a little then get dressed mostly still wet.  She wouldn't dry me thoroughly either.  It was so uncomfortable to be wet with clothing on.  I finally took over and dried myself off to my liking and then aired out a bit just to make sure.    I suppose if it's uncomfortable to her then she'll dry off more.

I'd probably explain that she needs to dry between her legs but other than that I wouldn't worry about it.
