Hi no poo mamas! I'm one year into no poo and love it!

 

However, I let my hair get pretty darn greasy recently, I had only used water for months...I applied my baking soda as normal, and now my texture is sticky, yet chalky! I can't get it soft again ! I did swim one day in a slat water pool and the next in a chlorinated pool before I used the baking soda...

 

What to do?

No clue! But, I am so interested in the no poo! I keep wanting to try....and then chicken out. I have very long hair and I'd hate to mess it up!

i had to apply the baking soda several times, but it finally feels clean and soft...

 

Momsteader, I don't think no poo can mess up your hair. If you don't like it you can just go back to the shampoo you were using before.I think my hair looks better than ever! And it's so much cheaper.

Momsteader, try weaning yourself off shampoo slowly. Don't just jump in and stop washing your hair because that transition period is yucky. If you wash every day with shampoo, try going every other for a week or two and then move to every 3rd day. Skip a washing in favor of the baking soda and apple cider vinegar. It takes a few weeks to figure out what your hair really likes so yo u have to sorta play with it a little. But if you do it slowly, you shouldn't have much of a transition period. You may have a day or two where your hair is super staticky and fly-away or maybe a little less than clean and needing to be pulled back all day but not truly greasy and dirty looking. But that will probably be it if you ease into it. You can't ruin your hair. If it doesn't work for you, you can always go back to shampoo. I did no-poo for a few years and somehow went back to shampoo for about 6 months and then decided to go back to no-poo. You don't have to do one or the other exclusively for fear of ruining your hair.
