I'd try the dshwasher since it's often suggested for sponges...the washer might bust it up. top rack, on hot?

I dunno..I think I would just get a new one. I read some story awhile back about some lady getting some weird skin condition from using an old loofah.

It was awhile ago so I couldn't possibly remember where it was but it was kind of weird.

I'd try soaking in vinegar maybe 1/4 to 1/3 cup and some hot water. The vinegar will act as a bleach, too. Vinegar is great at getting out soap scum.
