Hi everyone,

I'm interested in finding out how common it is to get a menstrual cup and need to trim the stem.

I myself have a divacup and have trimmed the stem halfway but am going to need to trim it more.

Do most people trim them -- all the way, part way, or not at all?

Curious!

I have had a keeper for 10 years, well two, one for before giving birth and one for after. My first I trimmed it about halfway and hated always having to reach for it...so I didn't trim this one and like it much better. I don't really understand why they tell you to trim them.

I trimmed my Diva most of the way, just a little bit left. For me it was uncomfortable untrimmed.

Mine wasn't wearable untrimmed. It poked in the most uncomfortable places!

I have a Diva. Trimmed that bad girl all the way. It poked and I don't need any kind of stem or handle to pull it out, so it was pretty extraneous to begin with.

I trimmed the DIVa all the way.. I started off trimming little by little and eventually it was all gone... it kept poking me and was very uncomfortable... I still don't use it all that much unless I go swimming or something.

I also trimmed mine all the way. The poking nearly drove me crazy, but after I trimmed it down I've had only minor issues with the poking. If you need to, trim that puppy!

I originally voted no in this poll, but after my last cycle I trimmed the whole thing off. We were on vacation, I was having major problems getting it in- I think public restrooms and trying to get it in too quickly- I also had a MAJOR leak. I was just ready to toss it, and then on top of it I was being poked. So I cut off the end and hope I have better luck next month.

I have a Diva and there isn't much to trim. Had I purchased the Keeper instead I would need to trim it.

I have been debating on whether to trim mine or not. I haven't been "uncomfortable" until last month and it has happened a few times since. I just haven't done it yet. I am not certain that I will. Seems to only give me issues with certain clothes.

I trimmed the entire tail off my DivaCup and it still protruded (with top of cup touching my cervix). I returned it and bought a Mooncup, trimmed the entire tail and finally had a perfect fit.

If you have pokey edges, try using nail clippers to avoid sharp edges left by scissors. :

I have been using my Diva cup for 4 months now and I've found that if it is poking me, I don't have it in right. (I was going to say far enough, but I think it has to go in and down and not just in. If that makes sense?) I had a lot of leaking issues in the beginning and was frustrated to the point of throwing it away and just using cloth pads, but I stuck it out and am happy most of the time =)

So to answer the op no I did not trim my Diva cup. If it pokes me, I don't have it in right.

I didn't trim mine at all, but DD trimmed hers off all the way (13 1/2 years old). I trimmed Moon to what Diva is from top to bottom, and its fine. I just prefer Diva. If I lost her, Moon is there to catch my back!
