Hi I am wanting to make my own laundry soap and washing soda is pretty well non-existent in my area and I read that it is just Sodium Carbonate that is used in pool supply stores. I was wondering if anyone has used this instead of the box of washing soda. I found some at the hardware store and it is 100% sodium carbonate but this will be my 1st time making the soap and I don't want to have a bunch of stuff I can't use or get rid of if it's wrong.

Thanks

Tina

You can order washing soda too, so a little patience might save you frustration. The only place I can find it is at my grocer here, as Walmart and Target don't carry it. You might call a chemical supply warehouse if there is one in your area. Otherwise, you should actually be able to "special order" it from Walmart or whomever around you carries other A&H products!

I don't know where you are, but Kroger in my area carries washing soda. I think I went to the Arm & Hammer website and looked for someone in my area who carries it. I had never thought to look there before.
