My daughter will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. For the most part, I do not think of babies as dirty but bathtime will come soon. I am reluctant to use soap, even organic baby soap with this little one. Does anyone have any suggestions for something else that is natural and cleansing? Thanks!

Okay, some might find this gross but I rarly use soap on my babies. They never stink. Just fresh bath water gets them squeeky baby fresh. And I only bath my babies every 4 or 5 days.: I don't want all of the oils and chemicals all over them either. My youngest is 9 months and she is my 7th, so it has worked for us fine. I think all of the lotion and oils make their skin break out and get dry.

Warm water worked fine for us too, a tiny bit of castile soap suds if things were especially grimy now and then. Fewer baths were and still are a must b/c of my ds's excema, and no problems with that either. Til my "baby" lost his baby smell and started smelling like Sweaty Little Boy, we rarely used soap or other products. Now it's handmade soap and for after bath, coconut oil or unrefined shea butter.

I used to just put a drop or two of Burts Bees Apricot Baby Oil in my kids bath water when they were that tiny. Soap seemed to harsh. (Plus I love the smell of apricots.... If there is something apricot scented, there's a good chance I own it!)
