Hey all....I'm so tired of having to buy razors and razor heads all the time and am considering an electric shaver/epilator (specifically the Epilady Duet a 2 in 1 epilator and shaver). It's pricey ($50) to get, but then I shouldn't have to keep buying razor heads and razors all the time, right?
I want something that's effective, cost effective and lessens waste. I've also been very curious about epilating (I know all about the pain and think I could handle it) for some time now too.
I just can't go without shaving, it's one of those things that makes me a little nuts if I do without...I wish I (and my partner) preferred my being hairy, but no dice.
Anyone have any opinions, advice or reccomendations?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Braun Silk-Epil. Its the blue one. $59 on Amazon. It has an attachment for electric shaving too, incase you don't want to epilate more erm.. sensitive areas. Let me know if you want more info.

Yeah I hear Braun makes good things. I personally just wanted to try out an epilator and got something called Emjoi, which is working well. It helps to take a warm shower before epilating, it makes the hair plump up and loosen and easier to yank out. Slather on some lotion or something else soothing afterward to prevent irritation. I like to exfoliate my body with a mesh pouf in the shower beforehand.

I don't suppose I can sell anyone on the merits of hot wax? :

I can't stand the way the Epilady feels, gripping and ripping one by one. But, I haven't tried it in something like 10 years. I use water soluble green apple hot wax and washable muslin cloth strips. Like i said, i first started waxing 10 years ago, and now I can go 3 months between noticable growth. I'm not sure if thats because of the waxing, or me just getting older. I don't do my legs anymore (not enough hair) but still do my armpits and bikini line and i really love the way it makes my skin feel.

Purpsurfer, I looked at that one on Amazon and it didn't mention a shaving head for it. Is that where you got yours? I think I'd really like one with a shaving head as well as epilator.
Thanks!

I'm thinking that the newer epilators are faster and grab the hair a bit better than the epilators of the late 80's. The first 1-2 times I had some pain, after that, it didn't bother me. I do my face, sideburns, arms, armpits, happy trail, any stray crazyness on the chest area (I know...TMI). I don't have the guts to go anywhere near the bikini line and I think doing my legs would be cumbersome and I can't grow all my hair out at the same time for my legs.

If nothing else, it's great for face and armpits.

Abarat, I did get mine from Amazon and the shaver head was included. Came with a carry pouch, too. Warning, it is really loud and moves really fast and looks way intimidating but its not bad at all. Take 600mg of ibuprofen and it takes the edge off the first time.
